About Us
Winchester Mount Vernon House is an extraordinary testament to the character of the citizens of Winchester. Long before scholarly research substantiated the positive impact of social connectedness on seniors, the people of Winchester recognized the importance of creating a non-institutional home where their eldest neighbors could grow old amidst the familiarity and fellowship of the community they’d helped to build.
Founded in 1894, Winchester Mount Vernon House is a non-profit, private foundation, created to keep Winchester seniors close to family, friends and the town they know and love. Because we're private and managed by a community volunteer Board of Directors, we offer a stability and continuity of care seldom seen in assisted living. The intimacy of our small, bed & breakfast style facility and the personalized care given by our extraordinary staff lend a warm “family” atmosphere in which we take great pride.
For over 130 years, we've delivered on our mission to improve the quality of life for seniors in a small, home-like residence. And today, we continue to open our doors to Winchester seniors and seniors with family in Winchester, offering a fee structure based on each resident’s ability to pay.
