Each day at Winchester Mount Vernon House is an opportunity for fun and relaxation with friends. Our calendar includes a wide variety of creative, social, and learning activities.
Special EventsFrom unique events sponsored by community groups to holidays and birthday parties, we want to create fun and enjoyable events for our residents. Examples of special events include a Hawaiian Night with authentic food and dancers; the Winton Club Cabaret; and the EnKa Society tea parties with entertainment. Members of the EnKa Society also bring birthday cakes for residents as a special treat. We also have unique programs for many holidays: on Halloween, children come in costume to trick-or-treat, and for gift-giving holidays, we host special craft events for making gifts such as inspirational plaques, pillows, wreaths, or flower pots.
Monthly Activity CalendarIn addition to special events, we offer a variety of regularly scheduled events every week or every month. Our residents enjoy the consistency of these opportunities and often go to their favorites. Some great examples include nutritional and educational seminars, exercise programs with trained therapists, live piano music, and a "Movie of the Week" shown on our big screen.
Always AvailableOur residents often plan their own activities by using the resources available in the house. The most popular forms of entertainment in the house are games, art, cooking, and music. On a daily basis, there are people playing card games, board games, and Wii video games in the family room. We have an amazing array of art supplies, from pastels and printing materials to Chinese brush painting and greeting cards for handmade gifts. Our country kitchen is always available to make cupcakes, cookies, or bread, and is very inviting on a cold winter day.
